CESNET, association of legal entities, was established in 1996 as an association
of all universities of the Czech Republic and the Czech Academy of Sciences.
It's main goals are:
- research and development of advanced network technologies and applications,
- operation and development of the Czech National Research and Education Network
- broadening of the public knowledge about advanced networking and use of advanced
information and communication technologies
CESNET is a long-time Czech academic network operator and participant of a number
of international pojects. As an important international actor, CESNET is
- shareholder of DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe)
- member of TERENA (Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association)
- Internet2 international partner
- participant of the European GEANT2 project (and formerly of the GEANT, QUANTUM/TEN-155,
and TEN-34 projects, aimed at developing the European academic network and its applications)
- participant of the 6FP EGEE (Enabling Grids for E-sciencE) project, aiming at creation
and integration of high-performance computing facilities within European academic
networks
Dr Eva Hladká is leader of the group dealing with virtual collaborative
environments and support to virtual communities. Her professional record includes
participation in a number of national and international activities and projects
in this field.
