At the Thalassaemia Center, Dr. Soteroula Christou oversees all
aspects of care for patients with β-thalassaemia, haemoglobin H disease, and
heterozygous and homozygous carriers of beta-s haemoglobin. These include blood
transfusion, chelation treatment, clinical, laboratory, cardiological and endocrine
evaluation, and the management of the complications of thalassaemia.
Dr. Christou's routine clinic work further includes research on new therapeutic
schemes for the treatment of haemosiderosis, osteoporosis, viral hepatitis, and
for the induction of haemoglobin F.
