Prof. Amal El-Beshlawy is president of the Egyptian Thalassemia
Association (ETA) and head of the Pediatric Hematology Department of Cairo University.
In the latter role she is involved in the management of more than 2500 thalassaemia
patients. Besides organising training courses in paediatric haematology, especially
thalassaemia, for Egyptian and Arab physician researchers, she is the main supervisor
of more than 105 MD and MSc theses on paediatric haematology. She has presided over
many national and international conferences, has been invited speaker in different
international conferences and is scientific collaborator of the Thalassaemia International
Federation (network partner 3). Prof. El-Beshlaway is also the principal investigator
in a number of multi-centre international researches on oral iron chelators
