Prof. Ana Villegas oversees the Haematology Service at the Hospital
Clinico San Carlos of Madrid and has more than 20 years of research experience in
the thalassaemias and haemoglobinopathies.
The Haematology Service is a reference laboratory for molecular and prenatal diagnosis
of thalassaemias and haemoglobinopathies and as such enjoys a nationwide reputation
in Spain. It provides training activities and courses in haematology and in the
biochemistry and molecular biology of thalassaemias and haemoglobinopathies.
