Prof. Alex Felice Alex Felice is professor of physiology and biochemistry
at the University of Malta. He is also director of the Thalassaemia and Molecular
Genetics Clinic and of the Clinical Molecular Genetics unit of the Pathology Department
at St. Luke's Hospital.
Dr. C. A. Scerri is (Hon) senior registrar and lecturer. Both are
responsible for the population-genetics testing programmes in Malta, including thalassaemia,
oversee the care of thalassaemia patients, and manage the comprehensive genotyping
of all of these patients.
Thalassaemia research programmes at the University of Malta and St. Luke's Hospital
investigate the molecular-genetics epidemiology, the expression control of globin
genes, and pharmacology.
